I made this painting after completing my undergraduate degree in art at San Diego State University in 1998. I was interested in juxtaposing an eclectic mix of imagery and text. Here, I appropriated the "pig-baby" image from an early 1900's newspaper advertisement for tonic. The idea in the ad was that a fat baby was a healthy baby.
